Souq Waqif,Qatar

Located behind the Corniche, off Grand Hamed St. The Souq quickly became our favorite hanging out spot in Doha, for those of you who don’t know a Souq is a Market. I went there with family almost every weekend, we loved  to walk around the market, viewing all the interesting things, until we get really tired then we end up having our dinner there, and enjoyed the rest of the day goes by :)

Souq Waqif

This is a view of the market from car park area just before the sun set. I love the golden light hitting on the wall of this building. I  managed to capture some portrait from here too, of course with their permission, and I was lucky  that day, it  wasn’t  busy  at all so I can take a lot of pictures.

Souq Waqif is an important market in Doha, this shopping destination is renowned for selling traditional garments, spices, handicrafts, and souvenirs, it has many little alleys with small shops selling everything including pets, you can get pretty much anything here. It is also home to dozens of restaurants serving cuisines from all over the world, It has great coffee shops where you can sit for hours sipping coffee as well as Shisha lounges, The tobacco for the waterpipe soaks in fresh fruit juice, and a café employee sets glowing pieces of wood charcoal on top of the pipe to get the smoke going  and its bring a lovely fruits aroma around.

The other best thing on the souq is the traditional fabrics of Qatari men and Women. The splendid beauty of the fabrics that are heavily embroidered or designed be it the head scarfs or shaylas and bhuknoqs or be it Abhayas, the long black dress worn by the Qatari ladies with contrasting embroideries.
